Signature Books Welcomes New Marketing Manager
Signature Books welcomes Stephanie Lauritzen as our new marketing manager and publicist. Prior to her arrival, Stephanie wrote essays and opinion editorials for various local newspapers- including Salt Lake City Weekly, Valley Journals, and The Salt Lake Tribune. Her work was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2013 for her essay “Free Agent.”
Online, Stephanie contributed posts on Mormonism and feminism with blogs such as Patheos and Rational Faiths. She currently chronicles her journey through Mormonism, feminism and parenthood on her blog The Mormon Child Bride.
In addition to her writing, Stephanie spent seven years teaching American History and Language Arts at Jordan High School. Her favorite activities included teaching her students to appreciate primary sources, railing against Andrew Jackson’s presence on the twenty-dollar bill, and encouraging students to think critically and disagree productively.
Stephanie enjoys writing and researching issues regarding women’s role in Mormon history, LGBTQA activism, and autobiographies of prominent and infamous Utahans, especially Utah artists and poets. In her free time, she tries to stay out of trouble and enjoys spending time with her spouse and two children in Holladay, Utah.
Her background, with a history degree from the University of Utah and MA in teaching history from Westminster College, makes her an ideal addition to the staff. Signature Books focuses on Utah history, particularly within the genres of biography, documentary reference, and personal essay, but also fiction and humor. She will contribute to our goal of creating beautiful and accessible literature to both Mormon historians and novices alike.
