Ignacio M. Garcia is the Lemuel Hardison Redd Jr. Professor of Western & Latino/a History at Brigham Young University. He is the author of nine books, former president of the Mormon History Association, and a renowned scholar of Latino Studies. His memoir, Chicano While Mormon: Activism, War and Keeping the Faith, is among the first from an LDS scholar of color. He has also written a number of essays on “being brown in the LDS faith.”
